The Online Master of Arts in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University

Counseling@Northwestern, the online Master of Arts in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University, is pleased to offer employees, spouses, and legal dependents of EdAssist-affiliated clients tuition benefits of $7,500 for new students and $1,000 for existing students if they are accepted to and enroll in the program. This tuition benefit will be spread across the length (or remaining length) of the program.

Program Overview

The online Master of Arts in Counseling prepares students to become self-reflective clinical mental health practitioners in a range of professional settings. With a curriculum that builds students’ foundation in traditional counseling practices, the Counseling@Northwestern program features:

  • collaborative, live classes in which students build meaningful relationships with peers and faculty;
  • high-quality, self-paced coursework, including video case studies and research that integrates theoretical material with real-world therapeutic interactions with clients;
  • courses designed and led by Northwestern University’s expert faculty, who are leaders in the counseling field and;
  • six quarters of immersive clinical training at mental health sites that meet Northwestern’s standards.

Counseling@Northwestern uses an online learning platform to deliver a curriculum as rigorous as Northwestern’s nationally renowned on-campus program, so students can earn this top-tier degree while improving lives in their own communities. Our online Master of Arts in Counseling is offered full time and part time, with a Bridge program available for career-changers. All coursework and clinical training is based on standards set forth by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
